Climate Science and Modeling

Climate research and modeling play a vital role in assessing climate change trends and their impacts on natural systems, the economy, and society. Climate models and scientific studies provide the basis for developing future climate scenarios, assessing climate risks, and designing effective adaptation measures.

The KyrgyzHydromet Service is the primary government institution responsible for climate observations and the collection of climate data in the Kyrgyz Republic. The Service collects, processes, and analyzes data on air temperature, precipitation, snow cover, wind, and other key climate variables.

Climate data are used for:

  • developing national climate projections;
  • building long-term climate models;
  • analyzing climate change trends;
  • assessing climate risks;
  • planning climate adaptation measures.

Climate change research in the Kyrgyz Republic is conducted by research institutions, higher education institutions, and international partners. The findings support evidence-based decision-making in the fields of climate change adaptation and sustainable development.
