Coordination Council of the Kyrgyz Republic on Ecology, Climate Change and Green Economy

The Coordination Council of the Kyrgyz Republic on Ecology, Climate Change and Green Economy is an advisory and consultative body established to coordinate national policy in the areas of environmental protection, climate change, and green economy development.

The Council was established by Resolution No. 487 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic dated 12 August 2025. It serves as a platform for cooperation among government institutions, development partners, the scientific community, the private sector, and civil society.

The Council is chaired by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. Its members include heads of government agencies, representatives of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, the scientific community, international organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.

The primary objective of the Coordination Council is to ensure interagency coordination in the development and implementation of national policies on environmental protection, climate change, and green economy development.

Main Functions of the Coordination Council

  • coordinating national policy on environment, climate change, and green economy development;
  • reviewing national strategies, programmes, and action plans;
  • supporting the implementation of the Kyrgyz Republic's international climate commitments;
  • developing proposals for mobilizing climate finance and investments;
  • facilitating cooperation between government institutions and development partners;
  • preparing recommendations and policy decisions to promote climate-resilient development.

On 19 September 2025, the Coordination Council held its first meeting, during which it reviewed the third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0), the first Biennial Transparency Report (BTR 1), and the country's priority areas for national climate policy.
